MEET THE TEAM
AT SPECIALIZED LINCOLN PARK
Meet James, our General Manager and fearless leader! James grew up in Huber Heights, Ohio, but is more recently from Pittsburgh, PA, and has now been living in Chicago for nearly 10 years. James' favorite thing about cycling is that is can be whatever you want it to be. Whether it's competitive, social, adventure, or commute, we shape the way our bikes work for us and the communities around us. James mostly rides road (with Old Green Bay Road being his favorite ride on his SL7), but soon you'll be able to catch him on a Chisel, learning how to shred local trails! If he's not cycling, you can find James grabbing a bite at Little Bad Wolf in Andersonville enjoying one of their outstanding burgers, or riding roller coasters (duh).
Meet our Assistant Store Manager, Sam. Born and raised in the Chicago Suburbs, Sam moved to Southern California to get his Degree in Marketing from Chapman University. Post-Grad, he explored the state volunteering for Ameri-Corps in Santa Cruz, working for a local coffee roaster in Monterey, and working as a Marketing Director for a local business in Orange County. Shortly after, he found his family at Specialized in Costa Mesa and has been living the dream ever since. His passion is mountain biking, and you can find him rippin' dirt on his Enduro. If he's not cycling, you can find Sam enjoying a meal at Parson's, or finding local coffee roasters in his area.
SUPERVISOR & RETÜL FIT SPECIALIST
Meet Eben Saling, our in-store Retül Fit Specialist! Eben is originally from Portland, Oregon, where he grew up on a mountain bike before switching to road for transportation, competition, and then touring. He is a huge fan of forests, onsen, baguette, cats, bunnies, and long rides. When Eben isn't busy fitting riders at the store, you can find him riding his Aethos on Green Bay trail, grabbing a bite at Gaijin, or traveling the world.
Meet our Service Manager, Jackie! Her cycling journey started working at a student-run bike shop in college, which fostered her love for cycling both indoors and outdoors. Jackie's favorite part about service is when a rider gets on their bike and it feels brand new again because it can truly rejuvenate someone’s love for riding! Her bike of choice is her LOOK Kevlar Hinault KG76 - a bike passed down to her by her dad. When not in the shop, you can find her studying for her MBA program, playing with her husky or grabbing a bite at Little Bad Wolf!
Meet Gary, our lead service technician at Specialized Lincoln Park. Born in Salt Lake City Utah, he's been living in Chicago for the past two years. Originally self-taught, he continued to master his skills through volunteer work at a non-profit and working at other local bike shops before finding his home as the Lead Technician at Specialized Chicago. Gary spends his free time playing video games or crushing some miles on a solo ride. You'll find him on the occasional group ride - most likely at the front pulling the rest of the team along.
RETAIL SUPPORT SPECIALIST
Meet KeJuan - a service technician, cycling photographer and Guinness World Record Holder. Kejuan loves to ride his bike around the city and mountains, and happens to be a part of the team who set the world record for the greatest distance on a kick/push scooter in 24 hours (over 1600 miles!). His favorite place to ride his Roubaix is the lake front path in Chicago. When he isn't cycling, you can find Kejuan grabbing a bite at Medichi, or behind the lens shooting photos.
Meet Raquel, one of our Cycling Specialists at Specialized Lincoln Park! Born in Brazil, Raquel was raised in nearby Lemont and has lived in Chicago for the past 8 years. She's been an active cyclist for many years - commuting daily, riding with her family, or just out exploring the city. Raquel co-founded Team Veloz with her husband with a goal to give other Latino/POC a space to get into the cycling and racing world. Her favorite part about working at Specialized Lincoln Park is having the opportunity to introduce people to their next or first bike, because the excitement of New Bike Day is something she loves to be a part of! When she's not riding bikes, you can find her out on a walk with her dog and her daughter (who she's probably chasing down as she zooms past on her push-bike).
